Morgan Wind Technologies to Provide Generator Upgrade System to Retrofit 66 Wind Turbines at Iberdrola Renewables' Trimont, MN Wind FarmDate Posted: July 1, 2009 Greenville, SC--Iberdrola Renewables, the world’s largest wind farm operator, has chosen Morgan’s Wind Technologies generator upgrade system to retrofit sixty-six 1.5 MW wind turbines at their Trimont, MN wind farm. The Wind Technologies upgrade system is expected to improve brush life by as much as 300% with associated savings in maintenance costs and lower downtime. Scott Winneguth with Iberdrola Renewables stated the Wind Technologies system has been under test since mid-2008 and has performed exceptionally well. The upgrade at the Trimont, MN location is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. The Wind Technologies upgrade system consists of yoke, holders, micro switches, springs and Morgan’s environmental grade brushes designed for the extreme cold of Minnesota’s frigid winters. The system also included an entirely new grounding system. Morgan’s advanced generator system features radial mounted, full-length brush holders which eliminate friction chatter; constant pressure springs which deliver the proper and equal force for even wear; and a grounding system that circumferences 120 degrees around the ring to assure stable and high integrity grounding circuit.
